Dr. Newby presented an overview of the GIR status, including the document status and an introduction to information retrieval on the Grid.

Discussion among attendees of the overall mission of GIR-WG, with an emphasis on the relationship to database activities (such as in DAIS-WG) and Web search engine capabilities.

The session ended after about 40 minutes.
